You'll enter your email, password, home address etc. Then it's time for you to pick an area code from a list of many different local markets across the United States. Remember, you don't have to pick a local number unless you want to. Once that's complete, you are all set to start calling.

You also get caller ID, call waiting and voicemail free with the Magic Jack service. Setting up your personalized voice mail is easy enough as the menu walks you through it so you can record your greeting, busy message and name…typical stuff here.

Magic Jack also works with emergency calls for 911, which is one of the main reasons why you are asked to provide your address. This is how they are able to determine where you are. And this is key as you can take your Magic Jack ANYWHERE and use it. You could be in a hotel room or on the other side of the world and so long as you have internet access (except dial-up as that isn't fast enough), you can make and receive calls all day long. So if you are in an area that is serviced by 911, it is recommended to add the address where you currently are to the pull down menu on the Magic Jack application.
